Universal Orlando opened a new value hotel with rooms for $ 77 a night
Universal Orlando Resort is offering Walt Disney World a competition in the Value Resort division.
The Florida-based hotel and theme park destination opened its Dockside Inn and Suites hotel at Universal’s Endless Summer Resort on Tuesday. Guests looking for an affordable stay can book a room for just $ 77 a night, according to a company press release.

This is Universal’s second largest resort as the company is slowly expanding its portfolio of guest accommodations. It’s part of the Surfside Inn and Suites hotel, which opened at the Universal Endless Summer Resort in June 2019 and costs just $ 73 a night.
Universal’s biggest competitor, Walt Disney World Resort, currently has five budget hotels that cost around $ 112 a night, according to TripSavvy, a travel guide website written by “real experts”.

The new Dockside Inn and Suites hotel has 2,050 guest rooms ranging from standard rooms to two-bedroom suites. Further amenities include a lobby bar, a sunset lounge and two pools with associated pool bars. There’s also a vacation planning center, an on-resort Starbucks location, a Universal Studios store, and a Pier 8 Market.

Guests who choose to stay at Dockside receive exclusive benefits such as a free shuttle bus service and early entry to the Universal theme parks.
HOTELS APPROACH 1B UNSOLD NIGHTS DURING THE PANDEMIC: REPORT
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Universal Orlando Resort has implemented health and safety protocols. Visitors and staff are required to wear face covers, undergo temperature controls, and maintain social distance while on Universal’s property. Contactless transactions are also recommended.
At the back end, members of the Universal team will be running the resort’s improved cleaning practices for guest rooms and public areas. The capacity of the food and beverage outlets is also managed in accordance with local regulations.
In addition to Universal Orlando’s two value hotels, the company currently has one preferred hotel and three premium hotels – eight in total. Disney, on the other hand, has 31 company-operated resorts with more to follow in 2021 and 2022.
Universal Studios has several other hotels in Japan and Singapore. The upcoming Universal Beijing Resort is slated to open in May 2021 and will include six hotels.
