ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando restaurant owner said his company is finding it difficult to find employees.

Maxine Earhart of Maxine’s on Shine in Orlando said her company also had a hiring sign on the door for a month.

“The fight is real,” said Earhart.

Earheart says other restaurant owners are facing the same staff shortage.

“Lots and lots of restaurants. I mean, I have friends who can’t even open their restaurants for lunch because there just isn’t a labor pool for people to work in that shift, ”Earhart said.

Fast food restaurants like Wendy’s were spotted putting up signs with a signing bonus for new hires.

Since federal unemployment benefits are offered in addition to the state benefit, several business owners have questioned whether this income is a factor in the shortage of job seekers.
