FOX 35 EXCLUSIVE: Orlando pastor helps lay mother get shot and killed to rest
As one family mourns an Orange County mother, they are grateful for the church that donated a funeral service they could not afford.
ORLANDO, Fla. – – As one family mourns an Orange County mother, they are grateful for the church that donated a funeral service they could not afford.
According to investigators from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Tyi Faison was murdered along South Orange Avenue and 6th Street on Mother’s Day. The family says Faison finished the night shift at Circle-K and went home at 4 a.m. when someone shot her.
FOX 35 spoke to the family last week when they said they couldn’t afford a funeral. At this point, we introduced Faison to Pastor Glendy Hamilton, who presided over the funeral service at Harvest Baptist Church in Paramore on Saturday for free.
“This is what we do. This is who we are. We are a community,” said Pastor Hamilton. “You can’t do it alone in this world. We need each other.”
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says they don’t believe this was a random act and are still looking for the suspect. If you have any information please call Crimeline.
Family and friends at the service on Saturday expressed their frustration and tears. The single mother leaves three small children.
“This is difficult,” said a family member at the funeral service. “This is a hard pill to swallow because it doesn’t deserve it.”
The family also started a fundraising page to help cover expenses for their children.
