The Orlando Church Provides Assistance to the Struggling Arts Scene in the Area – WFTV
ORLANDO, Florida – If there’s one thing to rely on every Tuesday on the United Methodist Church thoroughfare in St. Luke, it’s festive and features everything from stilt walkers to live music.
For nearly a year now, the weekly grocery distribution at the Orlando Church has been helping the thousands in the central Florida arts scene who are struggling and without steady jobs.

With the Supporting Hearts Initiative, thousands out of work in the arts and entertainment communities of central Florida are collecting much more than prepared meals and bread.
“We have actors, we have musicians, we have stunt performers, as you call them,” said Steve Mackinnon, St. Luke’s artistic director. “We have so much entertainment on the street. While people stand in line, they come through and just try to give them a glimpse of joy. “
