New faces in Orlando pop music will be in the spotlight with an upcoming live music series called Plug. The Plug kicks off with a few big names in downtown Orlando with a free concert in June.
The free event features an intergenerational cast of local pop heavy hitters led by Latin music stars Coastcity – a Puerto Rican duo who grew up in Orlando and now have Grammy noms and collaborations with Luis Fonsi and Beyoncé under their respective belts.
The support act for the night is the new solo artist Sergio JR who is playing his first show. He’s a familiar face in the business, from his previous stint in boy band In Real Life, which emerged from the ABC reality music competition Boy Band.
The hosting responsibilities will be taken over by a previous generation Orlando pop star, Erik-Michael Estrada from O-Town. And to complete this ouroboros of Orlando pop music, grab a hot dog from none other than Joey Fatone on the spot as he pulls up in his Fat Ones food truck. [No joke.]
The makers of the local music industry, Helen Bromfield and Jeannette Conrado, are behind this series. You’ve worked with everyone from Daddy Yankee to Backstreet Boys for years.
“COVID has dramatically changed the landscape of the music and entertainment industry, displacing many opportunities from cities like Los Angeles and New York that are typically Meccas. As the industry recovers, our goal is to take some of that business forward, Talent and music magic back to Orlando, “said Bromfield in a press release.
The series of events begins on June 3 at 8 p.m. in the soundbar. The Plug is free, but get in touch soon as reservations are required.
