Orlando doesn’t want Indian restaurants. Anyone looking to sit down and immerse themselves in a Saag Paneer or Vindaloo will find a plethora of options. But outside of the buffets and restaurants with linen tablecloths, there is a noticeable lack of the subcontinent’s cousins. That changed this week with the opening of Honest Restaurant, an international chain that serves Indian fast food to order.
The chain was founded in India in the 1970s and expanded to over 50 locations before flying to Canada and the United States. Orlando is the second Florida city to see an outpost after Coral Springs. Pav Bhaji, Pulav, and Dosas lovers will be pampered at this location on Orlando Square Plaza. And vegetarians can look forward to the meat-free menu. The store at 1718 Sand Lake Road opens at 11 a.m. every day except Mondays. It stays open from Friday to Sunday until 11 p.m. and closes an hour earlier from Tuesday to Thursday.
