PHOTO REPORT: Universal Orlando Resort 5/22/21 (Hand sanitizer optional for attractions, DreamWorks destination open for tech rehearsals, KidZone Pizza Company opens, and more)
Welcome to another busy weekend at the Universal Orlando Resort! The parks have been a lot busier lately, but today it really wasn’t as crowded as we expected. We started our day at Universal Studios in Florida and realized that hand sanitizer is now optional for attractions.
It used to be that guests were given a hand sanitizer to use before getting into vehicles. Now it is no longer necessary.
Waiting times in the park were low in the morning, but we noticed that Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure was again using Virtual Line.
The tables have returned to the meadow in front of the stage.
The new DreamWorks Destination character Meet and Greet is in technical rehearsals. You can find more photos and videos in our post here.
KidZone Pizza Company was open but unfortunately there are no pizza fries on the menu.
Over on Islands of Adventure, we discovered that the Jurassic Park Arch is receiving much-needed TLC. There are marks on the arch that cover small cracks. We hope that this entrance arch is getting a new coat of paint before the VelociCoaster opens.
VelociCoaster was open and only had to wait 55 minutes this afternoon. In the courtyard area the trees have been barricaded, but 2 of the trees have new bars on their bases and the barricades have been removed.
The lines for food in the parks are ridiculous. The waiting times for rides have improved a lot, but the meal takes way too long. Let’s hope Universal comes up with a plan before the summer crowds arrive.
The taxi photo in Entry port has returned after being gone for a few weeks. It looks good and refreshed now.
That’s all for this trip to Universal Orlando Resort. Thank you for joining us in the parks today. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
