PHOTO REPORT: Universal Orlando Resort 5/13/21 (Low Waits, VelociCoaster Soft Opening, Florean Fortescue Ice Cream Parlor Visit, and More)
Welcome to a gray, overcast day here at the Universal Orlando Resort. The sky may be cloudy, but the cooler weather feels great today. Let’s head over to Islands of Adventure first to see what happens.
When we got to the park, we noticed that the crowd was relatively small. The waiting times in the park weren’t bad either, but this is also due to the fact that most attractions fill every seat and row and use the individual driver lines again.
As usual, the line for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure reached back to the lost continent. The attraction had a 60 minute wait when we passed.
Members of the VelociCoaster team were out to encourage guests to explore the attraction. They used a microphone to announce that VelociCoaster only had to wait 50 minutes and to let guests know that this was a great time to drive.
The barricades are still around the base of the trees in the VelociCoaster courtyard.
The single driver line was full, but the standby line was only 50 minutes long. The wait was definitely worth it.
The eggs have returned and the scanners are back to work in the Jurassic Park Discovery Center’s nursery.
Outside of the Discovery Center and Burger Digs, there are some repairs going on on the sidewalk, so there is a small part of the barricades along the way.
If your kids misbehave, there is a solution.
The waiting times for attractions in the park were short.
We stopped at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen to look at the macaron suitcase. There is nothing like a nice, full display case of macarons. They also have signs for Father’s Day.
Universal Studios Florida wasn’t very busy either. The waiting times for the journeys were also very short here.
Even the food lines were short.
We recently saw team members hang up a new curtain in front of Peek-A-Boo’s house in the old A Day in the Park with Barney theater. There are now two metal frames in front of the curtain, but we’re not sure if this is Halloween Horror Nights Prep or something else.
Thanks to the cooler temperatures, there was no line at the Florean Fortescue ice cream parlor on Diagon Alley. We paused to grab a cone of strawberry peanut butter and salted caramel blondie ice cream with shortbread crumbles.
Wiseacre’s Wizard Equipment has a beautiful ceiling. Sometimes we go through just to appreciate it.
There is always some fun to be seen in 5 & 10. Today we found this gremlin in a trench coat.
That’s all for that visit to the Universal Orlando Resort. Thank you for following us today and stay tuned for more updates from Universal Parks News Today.
