PHOTO REPORT: Universal Orlando Resort 3/31/21 (Jurassic World VelociCoaster commercial, reservations for Ollivander’s wand experience, low wait times, and more)
It’s another amazing day at the Universal Orlando Resort. We expected the parks to be full again today, but the crowd wasn’t nearly as bad as we expected. Let’s jump in and see what’s new!
The first stop of the day is the Universal Islands of Adventure, where we saw commercials and photos about the Jurassic World VelociCoaster. There was a “hot set” behind Mythos and the attraction seemed to be cycling all the time. We also noticed that several effects were activated, including the flashlights at the entrance.
When we photographed the entrance, we even noticed that the sign briefly lit up. We love to see all of these little details come together.
The technicians also worked in the lagoon viewing area in Toon Lagoon. We could see the lights flashing in the tunnel just before the cylinder.
We’re excited to see the VelociCoaster open, and hope it’s a good sign when tech team members work on the large lockers at the Discovery Center.
The queues for groceries were short, which was a good indication of lower park attendance today.
We just can’t believe these crowds! The weather is cool too, so it’s a great day here.
We really wanted to get a shot with the Incredible Hulk Coaster and Jurassic World VelociCoaster running at the same time, and today was our lucky day!
It’s interesting that the last few days have been so full and today is relatively quiet.
The waiting times for attractions in the parks were short, which is a big change after the last few days. We feel this weekend will be very busy, so we definitely appreciate days like this.
Mardi Gras lanyards and face masks, buy one now, get a 50% discount. Last week the face masks were bought, got one for free.
We need to make sure we get some of our favorite Carnival dishes before the event ends on April 11th!
The Hello Kitty Shop is without a doubt one of our favorite stores in the park.
The Ollivander’s Wand Experience is now using a reservation system again, which hopefully should save everyone a lot of time. Those standby lines were brutal! Read more about the reservation system here.
The walls around the new Universal Studios store were demolished and we could see many team members working hard to get the store ready to open.
We were a little disappointed that the funny “box” videos on the screens didn’t play in the Universal Legacy Store today.
Fortunately, we found a new VelociCoaster hat in the Universal Legacy Store. We searched for this one for a while and were happy to find it! What could go wrong?
Thank you for joining us in the parks today. Stay tuned for more updates from WDWNT and Universal Parks News Today!
