Orlando’s new Portillo’s is serving customers ahead of its grand opening.
Those who have been waiting months for Portillo to open in Orlando will be surprised to find that the new restaurant is already serving hungry customers.
Portillo is slated to open at 10am on June 15, but the restaurant is in the middle of a soft opening where anyone can have a pre-opening meal while the store trains staff.
“Right now, anyone can come to Portillo’s during this soft-open training phase, which should prepare us for the official opening on June 15th,” spokeswoman Ana Espinoza told the Orlando Sentinel.
In March Portillo postponed its opening date indefinitely.
“Portillo’s in Orlando is nearing opening, but we need a little more time to make sure our restaurant is perfect for all of our loyal fans. We are not going to open on March 23 and are not ready to announce a new opening date at that time, “said the chain in an email at the time.
It didn’t take much notice for fans to get into the store, however. Customers have already shared pictures on Instagram and Facebook tasting Portillo’s.
This is Portillo’s first Orlando location, at 7715 Palm Parkway, adjacent to the newly opened White Castle.
If you’re driving nearby, stop and take a look – you might get a taste of Italian beef and iconic Chicago-style hot dogs sooner than you thought.
