The second annual # 407Day social campaign calls on residents to support the largest sector of the hospitality industry this Wednesday (4/07).
Orange County, Fla. – Orange County and Visit Orlando are announcing the return of # 407 Day on Wednesday April 7th (4/07) to show residents support for local restaurants and their employees who make up 57% of the vital hospitality industry make up in central Florida. The campaign – inspired by the district’s long-term area code – encourages residents to dine in their favorite restaurants or order take-away / delivery and post their personal recommendations, experiences and photos on their social media channels using the hashtag # 407Day.
“Our restaurant community has always represented an important part of our region,” said Jerry L. Demings, Orange County Mayor. “This year we are proud to continue to show our support for our restaurants until ‘# 407 Day’. Although it was a challenge, we are resilient and always have a neighbor who helps the neighbor philosophy. I encourage our residents to enjoy the time out or to order to take away or for delivery. “
“Our local restaurants are part of the Orlando community, create jobs for over 100,000 residents and serve a variety of cuisines from nearly 40 countries around the world,” said Casandra Matej, President and CEO of Visit Orlando. “We have over 6,000 restaurants in our area and 407 Day is a great way to show your local favorite that you appreciate them by dining or ordering and picking them up on social media.”
Since the end of December 2020, dozens of local restaurants have stepped up to provide meaningful services to key workers in our community during the COVID-19 crisis. These range from lunch, dinner, and snack donations for workers who work long shifts at the Orange County Convention Center.
Residents are encouraged to share pictures of their local favorites on @ VisitOrlando and @ OrangeCoFL social media channels, including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, through # 407Day.
