Many theme park enthusiasts have relied on mobile ordering at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and even Universal Studios resorts, especially at this unprecedented time. It’s pretty obvious that theme parks took a safer approach with last year’s health and safety guidelines, and now Orlando International Airport seems to be following suit.

Tech team needed!

Orlando International Airport is currently looking for a tech team to create its own mobile ordering service for all travelers visiting the North Terminal. The technology company will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the operations.

According to the Orlando Business Journal:

The airport will launch a call for proposals for a company to “develop, install and maintain a mobile ordering and delivery platform for retail and food and beverage concessionaires” in the North Terminal in June, the airport documents state.

The five-year contract is due to be awarded in October and the company that wins the contract will share at least 10% of the gross revenue from its operations with the airport. The available contracts and offers from the airport can be found here.

With Philadelphia International Airport and LAX already ahead of the game and offering airport passengers the ability to order groceries from their phones directly to their boarding gates, Orlando International Airport is ready to follow suit and ensure that mobile ordering is coming soon before the increase in visitor numbers this year.

Guests planning to visit Orlando Airport this summer may see a larger crowd. The Orlando Business Journal report continued:

“Hopefully we’ll see something near our location by the end of the calendar year, but it has to be sustainable. We have to make up for it, ”said Phil Brown, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, during an update to Orange County officials on May 19. “I don’t think we’ll reach 51 million by 2022 or 2023.”

Mobile order messages for Disney fans

We’ve already seen an increase in visitor traffic to Walt Disney World, and mobile ordering has been bigger than ever since it was launched in 2017. Disney guests wishing to dine in a restaurant in Walt Disney World are requested to reserve in advance. Guests also have the option of mobile ordering in selected restaurants with table service.

With that in mind, we’ve also noted that Disneyland California has had some long mobile ordering waits since the Disneyland Resort reopened and has been reminding guests to prepare with easy-to-understand tips.
