In a Vogue interview, Billie Eilish tells Orlando Bloom why she has been vegan since she was 12

This week, vegan artist Billie Eilish revealed her reason for going vegan at age 12 in a multimedia interview with Vogue UK. Eilish was hired to answer questions from 23 celebrities during the Ask a Legend segment of the Vogue feature. Actor Orlando Bloom – who says it’s 90 percent plant-based – asked Eilish why she chose a vegan diet.

“I’ve been vegan for seven years,” replied Eilish. “I learned something about the dairy industry and the meat industry that I already knew about. Once you know about something like this and see it, it is really difficult to go back. And even now that I have a lot of friends who eat dairy and meat and don’t want to tell anyone what to do, I just can’t go on in my life to know what’s going on in the wildlife and do nothing about it. ”

In a separate question from model Hailey Beiber, Eilish also revealed that her favorite takeout spot is My Vegan, a Los Angeles, California Thai restaurant where she enjoys ordering garlic and basil noodles, satay, and curry.

Billie Eilish on body positivity

Eilish appeared on the cover of UK Vogue in lingerie, a departure from the baggier clothing style she normally wears. In addition to discussing her transition to veganism, the 19-year-old musician also spoke about body positivity and wanted her fans to be able to make their own choices, be it about food or fashion.

Actress Melissa McCarthy was one of the last people to ask Eilish a question during the interview, asking how she maintains her personal style in an industry that often shapes artists to her liking. “I try very hard not to worry about who [or] how i should look [affect me]. ”Eilish replied. “I don’t have to worry. I am me and I am the only person I have to make happy … I am the only person who has to like me and like what I wear and who I am and what I say. ”

Eilish recently released her latest single, “Your Power” from Happier Than Ever, her second album due out on July 30th.
