Coverings announced the exciting events planned for this year’s showcase in Orlando.

Coverings is the largest international tile and stone exhibition and conference in North America. This year’s Tile and Stone Exhibition will be held July 7-9 in Orlando, Florida, at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC).

For the first time, Coverings will share the meeting space with the National Wood Flooring Association’s 2021 Wood Flooring Expo. The reporting takes place in the north hall, while the NWFA exhibition is in the south hall. Registration for only one event is required to access both halls and both events.

The coverage also extends the congress times, a first for the event. The Coverings 2021 exhibition hall is open on July 7th and 8th from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EDT. The event will take place on July 9th from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This year’s event has some old favorites as well as some new, exciting events.

New at Coverings 2021 are the Coverings Lounge and Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) exhibits.

In the new Coverings Lounge, Luna Mosaic Arts and the National Tile Contractors Association will showcase stunning mosaic tile projects. Luna Mosaic Arts will create a 10 x 10 to 10 x 20 foot tile mosaic throughout the storefront. Additional pieces of mosaic are also exhibited. NCTA will present a live broadcast demonstrating the process of designing, building and installing a mosaic tile project. The association would like to emphasize the importance of tile laying as a craft.

“We are excited to share the steps and advanced methods our NTCA craft team is using to design a custom mosaic creation specifically for Coverings 2021,” said Bart Bettiga, NTCA Executive Director. “Our members include contractors, distributors and manufacturers preparing for Coverings 2021 to gain access to the most innovative tile and stone products, networking opportunities, and new business capabilities and growth.”

The SAMA also shows the artistic potential of the tile through two exhibits in the lobby of the North Hall. One of the exhibits is entitled “One Hundred Moments in the Mosaic” and shows a non-judged collection of works that represent the diverse members of the association. This project features both seasoned professionals and newcomers, showing 100 moments of life rendered in mosaic design by global artists.

The association’s second exhibit is the Mosaic Arts International exhibit, which consists of several separate judged exhibits that showcase the best contemporary art, architecture, community, and site-specific mosaics by SAMA members. Features returning to the conference include international pavilions, tile and stone exhibitions, live installation demonstrations, CID (Coverings Installation and Design) awards, rock stars and educational opportunities.

Jennifer Hoff, President of Taffy Event Strategies, the event planning firm for coverings, spoke about the many educational opportunities available to guests at the event.

“We are mindfully and actively planning a full-scale tile and stone experience on site that will provide those attending Coverings 2021 in person with the products, knowledge, and connections they need to grow their businesses and sales.”

These educational opportunities include Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and feature sessions, demonstrations, round tables, live interviews with industry leaders, and industry forums.

The popular installation demonstration phase is returning, offering attendees the opportunity to watch live demonstrations of tile installation techniques. This demonstration was created to involve individuals from all professional trading segments.

The annual Coverings Conference offers exhibits from all areas of the tile and stone industry.

According to Rick Church, executive director of the Ceramic Tile Distributors Association (CTDA), many CTDA members are excited to attend the event.

“They look forward to seeing the incredible products at the event, connecting with domestic and international suppliers, and discovering groundbreaking trends, techniques and tips to help them grow their business.”

Last year’s event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Coverings organizers are considering and carefully planning health, cleaning and safety measures for this year’s event. For more information on the showcase’s health and safety plans, please visit its website.

House Tipsters already took part in the event in 2019. The coverage of this year’s event has yet to be determined.
