Brightline’s position is improving with the new Gaming Compact, the new Orlando Stop – WFTV
ORLANDO, Florida – Brightline, the local train they currently serve in South Florida but which will soon stop in Orlando, is expected to be one of the main beneficiaries of the new Seminole tribal gaming compact.
While there will be no expansion of gambling in central Florida, the Seminole tribe in South Florida is allowed to expand. In addition, Parimutuels are allowed to move locations in South Florida.

This development means that the train, which is still below long-term driver revenue forecasts, may soon be able to take passengers from central Florida to south Florida and its expanded casinos.
Brightline Holdings LLC is owned by Fortress Investment, which also has interests in other gambling companies such as Penn National Gaming.

For its part, the company downplayed the connection when asked about Florida’s upcoming expansion of gambling: “Regarding our trains between here and out west, our trains in Florida will run zero-emission electric trains on biodiesel and Brightline West. Together, these routes will save more than half a million tons of CO2 emissions annually by avoiding 7.6 million vehicle journeys. “
