Billie Eilish tells Orlando Bloom why she went vegan seven years ago – Totally Vegan Buzz
“I just can’t go on in my life knowing what’s going on in the wildlife and not doing anything about it.”
Pop superstar and Gen Z icon Billie Eilish shared her reasons for veganization in an interview for the June issue of British Vogue.
During the interview, the award-winning singer-songwriter answered questions from 23 of her famous fans, including Orlando Bloom, Halle Berry, Denzel Curry, Avril Lavigne and Justin Beiber.
Bloom, who recently admitted that it was 90% herbal, asked Eilish to explain her reasons for adopting the lifestyle.
“I hear you are vegan,” said Bloom.
“[And] I was wondering what your reasoning is for being vegan? “
Eilish replied, “I am vegan. I’ve been vegan for – damn it – seven years.
“I learned something about the dairy industry and the meat industry that I already knew … but when you know something like that and see it, it’s really hard to go back.
“And now, even though I have a lot of friends who eat dairy and meat and don’t want to tell anyone what to do, I just can’t go on in my life knowing what’s going on in the wildlife and I can’t do anything about it.”
Favorite to take away
In the same interview, Hailey Beiber asked Eilish to name her favorite place to order takeaway in LA.
“It has to be this place, my vegan – that’s Thai,” replied the 19-year-old.
She added that flavorful basil pasta, satay, and curry were some of her favorite options.
The singer “Ocean Eyes”, who is a strong advocate of the vegan movement, is often seen using her vast reach to advocate veganism and raise awareness about animal cruelty and the climate crisis.
In 2014, after going vegan, Eilish wrote to a fan: “I love animals and I think there is no point in making something of an animal when the animal is already there. Leave the animals alone … I’m lactose intolerant too, and dairy products are terrible for your skin, and my skin is VERY aware of that. “
